2017 Year in Review

Wow! Here we are at the end of another year…a time for reflection over the past year and looking ahead to the next.

Here at Hug CEO, we’re grateful to have met so many amazing children and staff members during our visits to orphanages and residential foster homes in 4 countries.

In 2017, we:

  • visited 8 orphanages/residential foster homes (Miracle Kidz, Nazareth House, Baphumelele, Hogar de Niñas de Cupey, Hogar Para Todos, Queen Louise Home for Children, Hogar de las Bienaventuranzas, and I Can Foundation) in 4 countries (South Africa, U.S., Peru, and St. Maarten)
  • donated items to 1 orphanage (Eunime) for children with HIV/AIDS in Tijuana, Mexico
  • donated approximately 900 pounds of food, clothing, hygiene supplies, medical supplies, school supplies, stuffed animals, and recreational items
  • held our 1st annual fundraiser gala aboard the Odyssey in Washington, DC
  • connected with an organization called Invictus Institute which is working to provide tutoring resources to homes we’ve visited

As you can see, it’s been a fantastic, productive year, and we look forward to continuing our work with current homes, as well as connecting with new homes in 2018. It will also mark the start of our new initiative to bring small groups of volunteers with us on visits that will combine orphanage visits with opportunities to experience cultural aspects of each country.

None of this would be possible without the steadfast support of all of you! Thank you for your time, your energy, your donations, and your compassion. Your love makes a difference.

SAVE THE DATE! Hug CEO Gala on Friday, October 13, 2017

Join us for our first annual Hug CEO Gala this fall!

A limited number of tickets will be available to board the Odyssey Cruise for a celebration of the children who have touched our hearts.  We will be sharing some of their stories and raising funds to provide for their needs and encourage their success.

In addition to a three-course meal, live jazz, dancing, and (of course) the spectacular nighttime skyline of DC, the gala will feature the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and raffle for the chance to win fantastic items!

If you are or know of a business who would like to sponsor this event or donate an item for the silent auction or raffle, contact us at hugceo@gmail.com or through our contact form.

Stay tuned for ticket sales information. This is a wonderful way to show your support for our mission to show the world’s orphans, abandoned, and abused children just how much they are valued and loved!

Help us Raise Funds for Orphanage Repairs!

You can see through this gaping crack to the street outside.

Can you imagine living in a home that is literally falling apart? Looking through a crack in the wall to see cars and people passing on the street below…This is the situation the girls at a hogar (home) in Cochabamba, Bolivia are facing. We have received several estimates in order to get a reasonable proposal from a contractor and are now working on raising funds to go ahead with the project. We need $3,000. If you’d like to to help ensure that the girls have a safe place to grow up, you can contribute through our gofundme: https://www.gofundme.com/repairs-for-bolivian-orphanage

or through Paypal:

Check out their classes and join us next time!!!

New Website!

We’re making a move…but don’t worry, it’s just to a .org! We have an amazing new website designer, so we’re excited to showcase the kids and homes we’ve visited in the gorgeous format they’re so deserving. As we’re under construction, you may still see content on this page until we’ve fully transitioned to www.hugceo.org. In the future, you’ll automatically be directed there from here. 🙂 Please let us know what you think!

Hongik Center Visit a Success

Today, 66 orphans and their guardians from the Hongik Child Welfare Center visited Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas. Thanks to staff volunteers, the children enjoyed an incredible experience which included a tour of the ship, a private ice show, an appearance by a DreamWorks character, ice cream, games on the basketball court, a huge volcano science experiment, and a meal in the Windjammer buffet! It was, no doubt, a memory that will last a lifetime!
